Dementia - Ideas for Short films
Having had a Grandad that suffered from Dementia the whole time I knew him, I felt I never knew the real him. I've always been interested in understanding what Dementia is like for the subject of its torment, having everything you are, your memories, personality, and life-force stripped away slowly over the years.
Starting the course, I knew I wanted my film to be somehow related to the loss of memory. I aimed for it to not only show it occurring on screen, but for the spectator to be involved in it. It was for this reason that I decided to follow a dual storyline, beginning the film the spectator would think it was about something completely unrelated to memory, similar to a sufferer of Dementia most commonly not being aware of their illness.
It is from this interest that planted the idea for Lost.
